OBITUARY
Martha Lucas, daughter of Richard and Mary Lucas, was born June 29th, 1838 and died August 29, 1925, aged 87 years and 2 months.
Of a family of six sisters and two brothers only one remains, Mrs. Rachel Hatcher. Her mother, living until the remarkable age of 101, has been gone but a few years.
February 2nd, 1860 she was united in marriage to Samuel Wolfe and for 52 years they traveled life's highway together. All their married life was spent in Highland county near the scene of her birth place. To this union was born nine children. All grew to manhood and womanhood when at different times five were taken away. Cyrus, Charles, Elizabeth, Anna, and Jennie. The living ones are Mrs. Viola Daniels of Plymouth, Ind., Leslie, of Byrone, Ill., Mrs. Edith Shoemaker, and William, of near Hillsboro; also nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
On August 28, 1912 the companion of over half a century was suddenly removed by death, and she has spent her remaining years with her daughter Edith, often visiting the other children and her numerous friends.
In the year 1899 she unitied with the M.E. church at Boston and has since continued a faithful member of the same church. "Aunt Martha", as she was familiarly called by her friends and neighbors, was blest with a jovial disporition through her long life, and the attendant hardships of rearing a large family, and the taking away of so many of them at such an early age, she did not despair, but trusted in the only One who could help her and found peace and joy in doing for herself and others. All who have known her will nver forget her smile, the amusing sayings, the ability to make other forget their own troubles even though her own burdens may have been heavier. Until the past month she was able to go about among her own friends and enjoyed long excursions to new places. For three weeks she has been confined to the house and at times her sufferings were intense, but after her toil and pain she has reached
